Facies and Facies Architecture of the IvaniÊ Grad Formation (Upper Pannonian) - Sava Depression, NW Croatia

چکیده
The Sava depression represents the most southern part of the Pannonian basin (Fig. 1). After the Middle Eocene, a long continental phase started in the area represented by the present depression, during which tectonic movements occurred and a fault network was created along which the basin subsided by extension. The oldest proven sediments belong to the fresh-water Ottnangian deposits which are overlain by Carpathian, Badenian and Sarmatian clastic marine sediments. Pannonian and Pontian sediments were deposited in a brackish to fresh water environment, while Pliocene sediments represent fresh water-lacustrine deposits. The thickness of this clastic complex exceeds 4,000 m in the deepest parts of the depression. The complex was interpreted by FILJAK et al. (1969) as a single sedimentary Facies and Facies Architecture of the IvaniÊ Grad Formation (Upper Pannonian) Sava Depression, NW Croatia

Regionally recognisable sections of motifs (sequences of equally developed peaks) on resistivity curves of wells drilled in the Croatian part of the Pannonian Basin System were as early as the 1960’s (e.g. ©IMON, 1963, 1970, 1973; PLETIKAPI∆, 1965). In well intervals composed of marls, the EK-markers within these motifs were placed on the characteristic points of resistivity curves that were be...
متن کاملUse of feldspar grains in provenance determination and the study of transportation and depositional history, examples from central and NW Iran
Feldspar grains, as a significant provenance indicator, of two terrigenous formations from Central Iran, the Upper Red Formation, and Moghan area, Zivah Formation, are used for provenance determination and the study of transportation and depositional history. The Upper Red Formation (URF) is volumetrically the most important siliciclastic unit of the Central Iran and Zivah Formation (ZF) repres...
متن کاملRelationship Between Depositional Facies and Reservoir Characteristics of the Oligo-Miocene Asmari Formation, Aghajari Oilfield, SW Iran
The present study focuses on facies analysis and the reservoir characteristics of the Asmari Formation in the Aghajari oilfield (located in the Zagros fold-thrust belt, southwest Iran), and how they are linked to depositional environments and reservoir characteristics. This formation consists of about 380 m carbonates with some siliciclastic intercalations. Based on the integration of 1200 m of...

Three well - known source rocks of the Zagros basin and the Persian Gulf are Mesozoic in age.The Jurassic Sargelu, Albian Kazhdumi and Neocomian-Coniacian Garau formations have charged the Cretaceous reservoirs of this area. The northwest part of the Persian Gulf is strongly influenced by two major N-S trending paleohighs (Hendijan- Bahregansar-Regesafid-Izeh and Kharge- Mish) and surrounding p...

In the present research Kuh-e Siah Sections in the Northeast of Shiraz in the Interior Fars, was investigated to study microfacies, sequence stratigraphy, facies analysis and sedimentary environment of Fahliyan Formation. Generally, 345 meters of these sediments were studied by investigating 240 thin sections. In this study, the indicator microfacies were accurately identified which include Mud...
